This is Falfurrias, Texas
Falfurrias is the county seat of Brooks County, Texas, United States. The town is named for founder Edward Cunningham Lasater's ranch, La Mota de Falfurrias. In 1893, the Falfurrias ranch was one of the largest in Texas at some 350,000 acres.
The city is centered around the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 285 and is approximately 81 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, 90 miles southeast of Laredo, and 36 miles south of Alice. Population was 6,200 as of 2010.

TO THE PUBLIC – GREETINGS
Notice is hereby given that a Regular Meeting, of the City Council, of the City of Falfurrias will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the 3rd of April, 2013, in the Conference Room in the City Hall Building located at 205 E. Allen Street in the City of Falfurrias, in Brooks County.
If during the course of this Council Meeting, the City Council should determine that a closed meeting or executive session of the Council is required, such closed meeting or executive session will be conducted during or soon after the commencement of the meeting covered by this notice. This closed meeting or executive session will follow the guidelines and subject matter as set forth under Chapter 551 of Texas Government Code and an amendments thereto.
At such Regular Meeting, the following subjects will be considered by the City Council of the City of Falfurrias, Texas

- PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
- CITIZEN COMMENTS: This is the opportunity for visitors and guests to address the City Council on any issue. City Council may not discuss any presented issue, nor may any action be taken on any issue at this time. (Attorney General Opinion – JC 0169
- Approval of minutes.
- Approval of monthly bills.
OLD BUSINESS
- Discussion and possible action to approve a 2.96% cost of living increase of amount paid to Waste Connections of Texas and to determine and set new residential and commercial collection rates for waste collection charged by the City of Falfurrias and amend Ordinance # 561 to reflect the 2.96% increase and to approve an effective date.
- Discussion and possible action to approve an amendment to 2013 General Fund fiscal year budget for police department, to increase for additional officer position to be paid from increased sales tax revenues.

9. Discussion and possible action on 4th of July celebration activities sponsorship by L&F Distributors for alcoholic beverages and advertising.
Discussion and possible action on Joint Elections Agreement with Brooks County ISD and Brooks County for May General Election.
Discussion and vote on awarding Financial Advisor Services contract
Discussion and vote on awarding Engineering Services contract.
Discussion on Bond Counsel Services.
Discussion regarding Public Health Initiative-1 (PHI-1) for Hospital Proposal and possible 380 Economic Incentive Agreement.
Discussion on City Facility Plan for Police Department and City Administration.
EXECUTIVE SESSION – The council may enter into closed or executive session to discuss the following:
G.C. Section 551.072 – Personnel Matters; T.G.C. Section 551.071 Consultation with City Attorney; T.G.C. Section 551.087 Economic Development; T.G.C. Section 551.072 Deliberation Regarding Real Property.
