This is Falfurrias, Texas

Falfurrias is the county seat of Brooks County, Texas, United States. The town is named for founder Edward Cunningham Lasater's ranch, La Mota de Falfurrias. In 1893, the Falfurrias ranch was one of the largest in Texas at some 350,000 acres.

The city is centered around the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 285 and is approximately 81 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, 90 miles southeast of Laredo, and 36 miles south of Alice. Population was 6,200 as of 2010.

TO THE PUBLIC – GREETINGS
 
Notice is hereby given that a Regular Meeting, of the City Council, of the City of Falfurrias will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the 3rd of July, 2013, in the Conference Room in the Police Department Building located at 205 E. Allen Street in the City of Falfurrias, in Brooks County.
 
If during the course of this Council Meeting, the City Council should determine that a closed meeting or executive session of the Council is required, such closed meeting or executive session will be conducted during or soon after the commencement of the meeting covered by this notice. This closed meeting or executive session will follow the guidelines and subject matter as set forth under Chapter 551 of Texas Government Code and an amendments thereto.
 
At such Regular Meeting, the following subjects will be considered by the City Council of the City of Falfurrias, Texas
 
  1. CALL TO ORDER
  2. ROLL CALL
  3. CITIZEN COMMENTS:  This is the opportunity for visitors and guests to address the City Council on any issue. City Council may not discuss any presented issue, nor may any action be taken on any issue at this time. (Attorney General Opinion – JC 0169)
  4. Approval of monthly bills.  
  5. Approval of minutes.
 
OLD BUSINESS
6. Discussion and possible action on amending Ordinance No. 557 providing for the permitting and operation of certain game and amusement devices in the City of Falfurrias.
 
NEW BUSINESS
  • Discussion and possible action on lifting equipment and hiring freezes.  
  • Discussion on creation of City of Falfurrias employee classification system to include job descriptions and salary and compensation plan schedule.
  • Discussion and possible action on setting salary and effective date for City Clerk position.
  • Discussion and possible action on setting salary and effective date for City Administrator position. 
  • Discussion and possible action on Fiscal Year 2013 mid-year budget amendment for Garbage Collections, Sales Tax, Amusement Machines, and administration line items and approving an Ordinance #569.
