This is Falfurrias, Texas

Falfurrias is the county seat of Brooks County, Texas, United States. The town is named for founder Edward Cunningham Lasater's ranch, La Mota de Falfurrias. In 1893, the Falfurrias ranch was one of the largest in Texas at some 350,000 acres.

The city is centered around the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 285 and is approximately 81 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, 90 miles southeast of Laredo, and 36 miles south of Alice. Population was 6,200 as of 2010.

NOTICE is hereby given of a REGULAR MEETING, of the City Council, for the City of Falfurrias, County of Brooks, State of Texas, to be held on WEDNESDAY, February 18, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at: Falfurrias Police Department Conference Room at 205 E. Allen St. Falfurrias, Texas 78355 for the purpose of considering the following numbered items.
 
If during the course of this Council Meeting, the City Council should determine that a Closed meeting or executive session of the Council is required, such closed meeting or Executive session will be conducted during or soon after the commencement of the meeting Covered by this notice. This closed meeting or executive session will follow the guidelines and subject matter as set forth under Title 5, Chapter 551, of Texas Government Code and any Amendments thereto.

CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – AN ORDINANCE REQUESTING A SINGLE COMPOSITE PARTICIPATION DATE FOR ALL DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY OF FALFURRIAS PARTICIPATING IN THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM TO BE USED FOR CALCULATION OF NORMAL AND PRIOR SERVICE CONTRIBUTION RATES AND FOR DETERMINATION OF FUNDING PERIODS OF CERTAIN OBLIGATIONS TO THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM.
  • ITEM 10.) CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FALFURRIAS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AND PROVIDING FOR COLLECTION OF DELINQUENT DEBTS, INCLUDING ATTORNEY’S FEES AND COURT COSTS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND PUBLICATION.
  • ITEM 11.) DISCUSSION CONCERNING – ORDINANCE N0. 2014-001– To discuss possible amendments to Ordinance.
  • ITEM 12.)  CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – To discuss and vote on accepting bid for the City of Falfurrias 2015 Streets Project from Foremost Paving of $371,049.00.
  • ITEM 13.)  CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – To discuss and vote on change order cost not to exceed 25% of the City of Falfurrias 2015 Streets Project bid amount of $371,049.00.
  • ITEM 14.)  CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – To discuss and vote on request formal abandonment of an undefined/undelineated 20.0 foot easement as noted (based on Volume 255, Page 545, of the Official Records of Brooks County, Texas) to be located within an unopened road right-of-way (50.0 feet x 300.0 feet) of N. Williams Street within the city limits of Falfurrias. The easement shall be abandoned in favor of a newly dedicated utility easement, as attached in draft form. New utility easement shall “cover” horizontal locations for a newly re-routed 10” sanitary sewer collection line within the north 145.00 feet of N. Williams Street, an existing sanitary sewer line within the south 155.00 feet of N. Williams Street, and an existing 8” water distribution line within the complete 50.0 feet x 300.0 feet road right-of-way of N. Williams Street.”
  • ITEM 15.)  CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – To discuss and vote on terminating building inspection services with Mr. Rene Hinojosa.
  • ITEM 16.)  CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – To discuss and vote on Order calling for a City General Election to be held on May 9, 2015.
  • ITEM 17.)  CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – To discuss and vote on budget amendment to Utility Fund of $118,000 for Encino Drainage Project and $25,000 for Sewer line relocation on North Williams St.
  • ITEM 18.) CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING: To approve a $7,900 offer by Guillermo Mendez to purchase tax sale property on Lot 15, Block 16, Juan B. Miller Brothers Subdivision, an addition to the City of Falfurrias, as described in Volume ‘75’ Page 419, Deed Records of Brooks County, Texas belonging to Jesse A. Grimes, et al. by Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson and approve a Resolution regarding same.
  • ITEM 19.) CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING: To approve a $500 offer by Norma E. Saenz to purchase tax sale property on Lot 5, Block 3, Miller Brothers Subdivision, an addition to the City of Falfurrias, as described in Volume ‘102’ Page 647, Deed Records of Brooks County, Texas belonging to Juan Perez et al. by Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson and approve a Resolution regarding same.
  • ITEM 20.) CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING: To approve a $1,000 offer by Norma E. Saenz to purchase tax sale property on Lot 2 and 3, Block 3, Miller Brothers Addition, an addition to the City of Falfurrias, as described in Volume ‘125’ Page 703, Deed Records of Brooks County, Texas belonging to Emanuel L. Peña, Marivel G. Rosas, Rafaela Villarreal, Edna M. Grubbs, Aka Edna Mae Grubbs Boswell, and Elizabeth Rosas by Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson and approve a Resolution regarding same.
