Falfurrias is the county seat of Brooks County, Texas, United States. The town is named for founder Edward Cunningham Lasater's ranch, La Mota de Falfurrias. In 1893, the Falfurrias ranch was one of the largest in Texas at some 350,000 acres.
The city is centered around the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 285 and is approximately 81 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, 90 miles southeast of Laredo, and 36 miles south of Alice. Population was 6,200 as of 2010.

Saenz to purchase tax sale property on the Lots 2 and 3, Block 3 Miller Brothers addition to the City of Falfurrias, as described in Volume 125, Page 703, Deed Records of Brooks County, Texas belonging to Emanuel L. Pena, Marivel G. Rosas, Rafaela Villarreal, Edna Grubbs, Aka Edna Mae Grubbs Boswell and Elizabeth Rosas, By Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson, and to approve a resolution regarding same. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – Discussion and possible action to approve a $1,300.00 offer made by George Moreno to purchase tax sale property on the Lots 6,7,8, and 9, Block 19, La Colonia Addition, an addition to the Town of Falfurrias, Brooks County, Texas, according to the map or plat thereof, recorded in Cabinet ‘A’ Slide 32, Plat Records of Brooks County, Texas belonging to Pasqual Salinas, et al, By Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson, and to approve a resolution regarding same. Property is located at W. Lee Street Falfurrias, Brooks County, Texas.
- ITEM 13.) CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING – To discuss and vote on The Falfurrias Fire Department 50th Anniversary BBQ Celebration.
- ITEM 14.) EXECUTIVE SESSION – The Council will enter into closed, executive session to discuss the following:
- (1) Attorney consultation pursuant to Section 551.071, Texas Gov’t Code, to provide advice and counsel in connection with the City’s rights, duties, privileges, and obligations in connection with the collective bargaining negotiations between the City and the Police Union, threats of litigations, and related legal matters.
