Falfurrias is the county seat of Brooks County, Texas, United States. The town is named for founder Edward Cunningham Lasater's ranch, La Mota de Falfurrias. In 1893, the Falfurrias ranch was one of the largest in Texas at some 350,000 acres.
The city is centered around the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 285 and is approximately 81 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, 90 miles southeast of Laredo, and 36 miles south of Alice. Population was 6,200 as of 2010.

About City of Falfurrias Natural Gas System
The City of Falfurrias acquired the local natural gas utility system from Houston Natural Gas in 1956. The system is comprised of 36.55 miles of distribution lines, and a 3.35 mile high pressure distribution line (or a total of 39.90 miles of pipeline ranging from 2” to 4” in diameter).
At present, approximately 1,200 connections are being serviced (in Falfurrias, Brooks County, Texas) with natural gas that is delivered to the City Gates (located at La Gloria, Jim Wells County, Texas) by Kinder-Morgan via CenterPoint Energy.
