This is Falfurrias, Texas

Falfurrias is the county seat of Brooks County, Texas, United States. The town is named for founder Edward Cunningham Lasater's ranch, La Mota de Falfurrias. In 1893, the Falfurrias ranch was one of the largest in Texas at some 350,000 acres.

The city is centered around the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 285 and is approximately 81 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, 90 miles southeast of Laredo, and 36 miles south of Alice. Population was 6,200 as of 2010.

The City of Falfurrias will comply with the requirements of House Bill 3693 (Government Code §

2265.001(b)) by compiling and posting the total metered amount of electricity, water and natural gas used by the city or governmental entity for its services in 2014 and the total amount paid for electricity, water and natural gas in 2014.

 

Municipal Energy Usage for Calendar Year 2014

The City of Falfurrias is a municipal natural gas supplier. The City purchases natural gas from Centerpoint Energy for resale to local customers. In Calendar year 2014, the City of Falfurrias purchased a total of 24.10 thousand cubic feet (MCF) of natural gas for its own consumption.

 

  • The City of Falfurrias purchases electricity from Direct Energy. In Calendar year 2014, the City purchased a total of 2,289,973 kilowatt hours.
  • The City of Falfurrias is a municipal water supplier and does not purchase water. As a self-supplier, no municipal funds were expended to purchase water.
  • The total cost of natural gas, electricity and water purchased by the City in the Calendar year 2014 is $304,416.
