Falfurrias is the county seat of Brooks County, Texas, United States. The town is named for founder Edward Cunningham Lasater's ranch, La Mota de Falfurrias. In 1893, the Falfurrias ranch was one of the largest in Texas at some 350,000 acres.
The city is centered around the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 285 and is approximately 81 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, 90 miles southeast of Laredo, and 36 miles south of Alice. Population was 6,200 as of 2010.

Superior Water System
The Water Production Department is committed to the protection of Public Health by providing a superior drinking water quality to our citizens.
City's Water system consists of:
- 6 active wells drilled into The Goliad Sands Aquifer
- Also one well that provides irrigation water to The Ed Rachel Golf Course
- City plans to drill new well to add to the realible source of water
- Well capacity is at 2,400 GPM with ground storage of 680,000 gallons and an elevated storage of 600,000 gallons
- Water samples are collected monthly, quarterly, annually and tri-annually in accordance with regulations

Police Auctions
Apple Auctioneering Co. provides services to the Falfurrias Police Department, Brooks County Sheriff’s Office and the Brooks County Constables Office by conducting auctions on a monthly basis. Apple Auctioneering also manages the entire auction process from start to finish.
